Oasis Sur Malbec
Bodegas Bianchi, one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Argentina, was established in 1928, and has been making wines in San Rafael for four generations. With intimate knowledge of the soil composition of their Estate vineyards, Bianchi’s winemakers can differentiate the diverse microclimates in the southern “oasis” of San Rafael, and determine the vineyards that will offer the best expression for this wine.
Tasting Notes
Bianchi Oasis Sur Malbec has a great intense color with fresh and complex aromas that offer spice, fresh plums, blackberries and figs. Sweet, with gentle and ripe tannins mark its initial presence on the palate. The wine is unctuous, round and complex with a full mouth-feel, medium structure and a harmonious and fruity finish.
Vineyards
San Rafael is an area with many micro-terroirs, different altitudes, varied soils, and varietal characteristics that differ from other parts of Mendoza. This wine comes from vineyards that are at altitudes of approximately 820 yards.
Winemaking
Maceration at a low temperature of 46.4° F (8° C) takes 2-3 days. During the fermentation process, the temperature is kept between 78.8° F (26° C) and 80.6° F (27° C). The wine does not see any wood contact to help ensure the purest expression its terroir.
