Rosé of Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
The complex aromas have fruity, flinty and perfume-like qualities, including strawberry cream, raspberry and peach, coupled with blossoms. The wine has a crisp acidity and a luscious finish.
Vineyards
This Rosé of Pinot Noir is blended from grapes grown in the winery’s Goodchild (Santa Maria Valley AVA) and Los Alamos vineyards (Santa Barbara County). Goodchild has soils that range from clay and gravel river deposits to hillside and hilltop sites. Originally planted from cuttings brought over from Europe over 40 years ago, Lucas & Lewellen’s Los Alamos vineyard offers thick layers of clay and loam, coupled with a temperate climate.
Winemaking
This wine was made entirely with Pinot Noir (100%). After being harvested early in the morning, the grapes were crushed and soaked overnight in a stainless-steel tank. This process allows the color from the skins to tint the juice a marvelous pale, barely pink color.
