Chardonnay
Tasting Notes
Medium bodied with a delightful pale-yellow hue, the Leaping Horse Vineyards Chardonnay is bright and crisp from start to finish. It has citrus highlights to green apples, pears and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. The finish hints to a bit of lemon zest and a tight minerality that is enjoyable and refreshing.
Vineyards
The Kautz family has championed sustainable viticulture for over 35 years, using crop reduction, leaf removal, organic inputs, and drip irrigation to enhance fruit quality and intensity. Cover crops promote biodiversity by attracting beneficial insects, while owl and wood duck boxes support the surrounding ecosystem. This Chardonnay is grown in well-drained sandy loam soils, allowing for optimal ripeness and flavor development.
Winemaking
Leaping Horse is about unpretentious and contemporary wine styles. This wine is aged for five months in new French oak.
