Family Legacy Red Blend
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Family Legacy Red Blend opens with inviting aromas of raspberry, red plum, and hints of violets. On the palate, vibrant red fruit layers intertwine with supple notes of dark cherry and a touch of baking spice. Fine, silky tannins frame the wine, while bright acidity and earthy undertones carry through to a long, graceful, and satisfying finish.
Vineyards
Sourced from premier high-elevation blocks, each lot is fermented in small batches with native yeast to highlight concentrated fruit and mineral tension.
Vintage Notes
The 2022 season began with an extended cold, wet spring, delaying bud break by several weeks. Summer snapped in abruptly, jumping to the high 90s/100s by early June, with persistent heat through July–August: heat units piled up, but phenolic ripening lagged. Veraison stretched, and harvest ran 2–3 weeks late across varieties; early reds (Merlot) reached optimal ripeness only late Sept/early Oct. A moderate, warm, dry October delivered a smooth finish, concentrating flavor and intensity. balance of color, structure, and flavor extraction had been achieved. Malolactic fermentation on oak smoothed and softened the wine.
Winemaking
The wine is aged for 16 months in 100% French oak (30% new), with three rackings, and select barrels are chosen to further enhance depth and complexity.
