Vintage Notes

The 2025 vintage will go down as one of the most memorable in Marisco’s history – and not just for the scale. With Marlborough delivering a warm, dry summer and a settled, golden fall, our vineyards yielded a generous crop of exceptional quality.

It was a season that demanded care, precision and collaboration. From the vine to the winery, our teams met the challenge with passion and purpose. The fruit came in clean and ripe, with vibrant flavors and stunning balance. Now, with ferments finishing and blending underway, we’re already tasting the promise of another remarkable release.

Vintage Notes

Vintage 2024 will be remembered for being one Marlborough’s smaller vintages but also for producing exceptional fruit quality. Despite a dry winter and resulting low ground moisture levels, full dams and positive river flows supplied essential soil moisture for the start of the growing season with budburst in mid- September. Minimal frosts occurred, and though November and December were warm, below-average temperatures potentially contributed to the smaller vintage. From December to February, temperatures rose sharply, accompanied by above-average sunshine and below-average rainfall, leading to drought concerns and an early start to harvest. Perfect weather aided steady picking from February until mid-April, allowing fruit to be picked in perfect condition at peak ripeness, delivering consistent levels of concentration and complexity of flavor.

Vintage Notes

A warm and wet winter spurred an early start to the growing season with fully charged soil moistures and warm ambient temperatures in early spring. The few frosts through September and October did little to disrupt the healthy development of strong, lush canopies. Flowering began with cooler temperatures and periodic bouts of rain in the early summer, with the weather improving as we headed towards Christmas; typical with respect to warmth, sunshine hours and rainfall. Late summer warmth in late February and March along with careful canopy management, delivered slowly ripened, disease free, incredibly clean fruit. Harvest commenced in mid-March. Due to the long, cool ripening season, fruit was harvested significantly later than usual but retained all of its vibrancy of flavor and crisp, ripe acids. The team are excited by the bright flavor expressions and huge diversity of character coming through in the wines of the 2023 vintage.
