Pinot Noir
The Brigid labels were inspired by vintage botanical field guides. The Pinot Noir features the Metriosideros excelsa or the Pohutukawa – also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree for its crimson flowers.
Tasting Notes
The nose is brimming with bright red summer fruit and lifted floral notes. The rich palate follows through with dark cherries and a savory undertone. Impeccably structured, deliciously round and silky.
Vineyards
This Pinot Noir was produced from the North and Middle Wairau River Valley vineyards, planted over 20 years ago. While all have their own characteristics, they share terroir of the Wairau plains – a gravel-rich, free draining and devigourating soil profile. While most of our winemaking secrets are locked away, the way we grow our vines is the real secret behind Brigid wines. Understanding how to slow the grapevine’s ability to make sugar means we can spend all our time creating the flavor required to make great Pinot Noir. Small canopies, Slow ripening and ample sunshine combine to show the very best of Marlborough in this wine.
