Pinot Gris
Tasting Notes
Our 2022 Pinot Gris bursts with invigorating notes of ripe Anjou pear, green apple, and a subtle hint of tropical fruit, all underpinned by a crisp, mineral-driven acidity. Its clean, refreshing finish makes it a versatile companion for a range of dishes, from shellfish to summer salads.
Vineyards
Benton Hills Vineyards is in a premier wine region in southeastern Washington state, comprising several arid southwest sloping hills that are home to many of the Columbia valley’s most celebrated vineyards.
Ancient basalt flows formed a cluster of small mountains with gentle sloping hillsides ideal for growing vinifera grapes. We affectionately refer to them as our Benton Hills.
Winemaking
Benton Hills Pinot Gris shows tremendous lithe volume and bright fruit flavors due to a deliberate, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged sur lees for 3 months to add volume a hint of sweet softness to the palate. No malolactic fermentation was completed after alcoholic fermentation to preserve the natural acidity and fresh, crisp fruit flavors.
