Tasting Notes
Deep purple in color, this wine opens with complex and well-integrated aromas of blackberries, rosemary, and a touch of smoky, oven-roasted meat – character typical of the best Syrahs. The flavors follow nicely, with added notes of black pepper, bacon and spice. This full-bodied wine is well-balanced with excellent weight and grip, gliding evenly across the palate to a lingering finish.
Vineyards
The grapes for the Eponymous Syrah come from a 20 year old vineyard east of the town of Napa, on the benchlands below Atlas Peak.
Winemaking
After being hand-harvested, the fruit was fermented with care. The resulting wine was aged for 10 months in an even split of French and American oak, 30% of which was new.
