Tasting Panel
May 2024
Smelling and tasting of wild strawberry, honeyed apricot, and bread crust laced with a soupçon of saffron and flint, this blend of roughly half Chardonnay and a third Pinot Noir (with the rest Pinot Meunier) is ultra-suave yet giving on a broad palate tinged with orange oil and zest along with a trace of peanut shell on the long finish. The name refers to the fact that 8% of the Pinot Noir comes from a 40-year-old perpetual reserve.

This is a unique rosé because Pinot Noir is drawn from a solera system, most widely known for use in Sherry production in southern Spain. The result is a wine with exceptional depth and character. The nose is deep with notes of pastry dough and the brambly aroma of wild strawberries. But the fine bubbles the work of keeping the wine refreshing and lifted.

Dry and satiny on the palate, this offers up-front notes of white raspberry, delicate herbs, fleur de sel and orange peel that are more subtle though to the finish…Drink now.
