Founded in 1836, Gustave Lorentz is a historic, family-owned winery in Alsace, France, built on the belief that great wines come from the close relationship between grape variety, terroir, and climate. The estate is now led by sixth-generation winemaker Georges Lorentz, representing seven generations of family stewardship.
The winery farms 85 acres in the Altenberg de Bergheim area of the Vosges Mountains, including Grand Cru Kanzlerberg and Altenberg de Bergheim. Key varieties—Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Blanc—are vinified separately to preserve site expression.
Gustave Lorentz has been Ecocert-certified organic since 2012. All wines made from estate-grown grapes are certified organic, all Grand Cru wines are organically certified, and all wines are vegan and gluten-free, with additional vineyard acreage transitioning to organic certification by 2026.
The wines are widely regarded as gastronomic, known for balance and versatility at the table. A standout is the Crémant d’Alsace Brut Rosé, made from 100% Pinot Noir, aged nearly four years, and produced using the traditional method.
