Cabernet Sauvignon
Arvid Monson developed his first vineyard on the advice of Dr. Walter Clore, known as the father of Washington’s wine industry: “Find a tall sage, and you have a place that will sustain superior grape vines.” A tall sage is one that develops deep tap roots and, like Arvid himself, sustains the life around it. This release is a tribute to a man of great stature, the founder of Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon shows lovely aromas of fresh red cherry and red currant with notes of mocha and spice accented by hints of fresh herbs. The palate is intense and juicy showing red fruit flavors supported and focused by a fine structure and a hint of underlying minerality. The finish is lively and fresh and satisfying.
Vineyards
The fruit for this wine was carefully sourced from some of our favorite Cabernet Sauvignon blocks of the estate.
Winemaking
The fruit for this wine was carefully sourced from some of our favorite Cabernet Sauvignon blocks of the estate. During fermentation, the wine was pumped over twice daily until a balance of color, structure, and flavor extraction had been achieved. 25% of the blend were allowed to mature and develop in New American Oak barrels for 14 months while others aged in stainless steel to respect their intense fruit character. The final blend was created as an authentic expression of the Estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon.
