Tasting Notes
Our StoneCap Red Wine offers an alluring bouquet of fresh red fruits underscored by savory herbal aromas, complemented by a hint of baking spices. On the palate, it presents a supple texture with layers of ripe red plums, cherries, and red currants, harmoniously balanced with subtle undertones of spices and a mineral edge. The finish is smooth, lingering with flavors of black plum, huckleberry, and a touch of black pepper.
Vineyards
StoneCap is made with estate-grown grapes from the expansive, renowned Goose Ridge Vineyard in Washington State’s Columbia Valley. This valley and its surrounding rivers were formed during the Ice Age. The soil in this region is frequently wind-blown, leaving a “stonecap” at the top of the hills.
Winemaking
The 2021 harvest proved to be spectacular with a record crop level and excellent quality. All factors needed for a success came together perfectly. Harvest started the third week of September and wrapped up in the second week of November. The crop across the state was heavy, yet bountiful with quality. Our Goose Ridge vineyard team enjoyed weather that enabled them to pick at will, affording perfect flavor, acidity and sugar levels.
