Tasting Notes
Aromas take fold in an instant, with an incredible spiciness! Cloves and nutmeg; chocolate and vanilla beans give way to flavors of blueberries, plums, chocolate and mint that swirl in the mouth of this rich, well-balanced and full wine. The finish is bold and lengthy.
Vineyards
The vineyards were selected from the winery’s Lodi and Sierra Foothills vineyards, combining the sandy loam soils of Lodi with the iron-rich volcanic soils of the Sierra Foothills. Each variety in this wine encompasses the unique quality that is distinctive to it. The Zinfandel and Merlot come from the Lodi (sub-AVA Mokelumne River) which is primarily Tokay fine sandy loam soils with some clay mixed in. The Petite Sirah comes from the winery’s vineyards in Lodi and Murphy’s, which are full of iron and minerals.
Winemaking
This wine is aged for five months in new French and American oak.
