Barolo DOCG Riserva

This 2014 Barolo has a refined and elegant nose that is driven by high-toned red fruits such as strawberries and dried currants. The wafting nature of this wine results in aromas phasing in and out of perception, as dried roses, herbs and crushed rock mingle with the fruit notes. Winery director Luca Bosio and Mario Albrito coax the wine into an expressive, age-worthy expression. It has beautiful aromas of rose petals and leather with hints of ripe cranberries and earth. The palate is expertly balanced with well-integrated tannins and elegant fruit supported by an even acidity. This wine has seen over a decade of aging and is a wonderful representation of the joy that can be found in a bottle of Barolo. And for just over 60 dollars, it's a must-buy.
