Since 1735 and in the 9th generation, the Huesgen Family can look back to a successful tradition in the wine trade and in wine making in Traben-Trarbach, on the Mosel River. The trade mark of the winery is the ancestral homestead and headquarters, a significant Art Noveau building in Traben-Trarbach. Villa Huesgen was built from the famous Art Noveau architect Bruno Mohring (1863-1929) and is considered as one of the most excellent examples of Art Noveau worldwide.
Villa Huesgen concentrates exclusively on Riesling as being the best grape variety for the microclimate, Mosel. With an average age of 40 years, the vines create a perfect, concentrated quality. We adhere to the strictest diligence and uncompromising quality, selective picking, the most subtle processing methods by cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Our handcrafted and sustainable agriculture wine growing methods bring out purest quality.
The Mosel region is characterized by its precipitous vineyards that cascade down the steep hillside to the river. It is the most imposing wine area in the world and the origin of Riesling. The best conditions for cultivating Riesling also know as “the queen of grapes” are found in this area.
