Puisseguin Saint-Émilion
Tasting Notes
Violet hues shimmer through the glass, showcasing the wine’s vibrant clarity. The exceptionally fresh nose bursts with intense black fruit aromas, intertwined with hints of cedar and Morello cherries. On the palate, the wine’s elegance unfolds with bold character, featuring sophisticated, velvety tannins and subtle notes of licorice. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a lasting impression. While the youthful freshness is delightful, this wine also promises excellent cellaring potential.
Vineyards
This wine, from the Puisseguin Saint-Émilion appellation, is crafted from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, grown across 98.84 acres of limestone and clay soils. The 25-year-old vines are planted at a density of 13,590 vines per acre and are trained using the double Guyot system with natural grass cover to promote vineyard health.
Winemaking
The vinification process begins with cold soaking and fermentation in oak and stainless-steel vats, carefully regulated with automatic temperature control. After fermentation, micro-oxygenation occurs during maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation in the same vats. The wine is then aged for 14 months, with 30% in new barrels, 30% in second-fill barrels, and the remainder in vats. This wine has an aging potential of 10–15 years.
