G3 Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Overview

Our 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon shows aromas of ripe cherry, baker's chocolate alongside savory notes of caperberry, miso, and cedar. Dark, rich and inviting, the palate is supple and generous with a focused structure and a firm, dense core of brambly blackberry and blueberry fruits. The finish remains lively and fresh with flavors of plum skin and raspberry.

Wine Facts

VITICULTURE:
100% Columbia Valley, Estate-Grown Fruit. The fruit for this wine was sourced from some of the premier upper blocks of the estate.

VINIFICATION: The wine was pumped over twice daily until a balance of color, structure, and flavor extraction had been achieved. Malolactic fermentation on oak smoothed and softened the wine. The wine matured for 16 months in barrels (with 30% new oak Merlot, was carefully blended to add depth, softness, and layers of nuance to the wine.

INTERESTING FACT: Goose Ridge Estate Winery is certified by Sustainable WA, a 3rd party sustainability program for Washington grape growers. Sustainable WA is a framework of best management practices that focus on the three pillars of sustainability; environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic viability. Goose Ridge was one of the first to gain the certification.

FAMILY: g3 is a tribute to the three generations of the Monson family to have farmed in the Columbia Valley for more than a century.

In the early 1900s, M.L. Monson brought his family to the Yakima Valley. He came with a love for the land and the dream of building a family farming business that would continue for generations.

The family’s initial focus was on orchards and cattle, but after talking with Dr. Walter Clore, the visionary behind Washington’s wine industry, Arvid Monson built on his father’s legacy in establishing vineyards on the arid hills and in the valleys around Richland. That became Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards & Winery.

Today, Goose Ridge is one of the most renowned and progressive of Washington State’s nearly 1,000 wineries.
