Muriel Blanco 2020

Overview

The Finca de la Villa Blanco is pale yellow, with a greenish tint. The nose is intense and fresh, with floral and fruity notes of white pear, apple, lemon, lime and other citrus fruits. These fruits are present on the palate, juicy and tasty, with a distinct minerality through to the full, persistent finish.

Wine Facts

Winemaker Notes
The grapes for this wine come from vineyards over 20 years old near the town of Elciego in the Rioja Alavesa. The soil is clay-limestone and the climate is Continental Mediterranean, with an Atlantic influence. 2020 was a rainy and complex year, but it offered very good results in terms of grape health and ripening. Harvest was conducted manually in these goblet and trellis-trained vineyards, taking place the third week of September. The grapes were destemmed, with a gentle pressing and three hours of skin maceration to achieve a high aromatic intensity. Most of the wine was then fermented in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures in order to enhance its aromas and freshness. A small percentage was fermented in French oak barrels. After blending, the finished wine was bottled for release.

This aromatic white wine is best served chilled or as a perfect accompaniment to fish and shellfish, served either baked, fried or broiled, as well as Sushi or Lobster Paella and semi-cured cheeses.
