An elegant, full-bodied German Riesling, with complex flavors of crisp citrus fruits and hints of sun-dried apricots and peaches. On the palate, this Kabinett seduces with its fine minerality and a long, lingering fruity finish.
Winemaker Notes The grapes for Kabinett Riesling are grown in a special micro- climate within the Mosel region. The vineyards are on steep slopes, over 80% deep gray slate, at altitudes of between 100 to 200 meters along the Mosel River. The vines, from original Riesling rootstock, have an average age of 30 to 35 years and are at angles and exposures on the various slopes that make a difference in the amount of sun the grapes receive. The end result is a great deal of ripeness in the grapes, which are hand-picked and then pre-selected for their ripeness. The grapes do not undergo crushing or pumping, but go directly into a soft air press. After pressing, the juice is transferred to stainless steel, where it sits for 12 hours before being moved into the final tank for fermentation. Serving Hints This wine is best served chilled with Asian dishes, curries, hard cheeses like Parmesan or Manchego, light desserts or simply as an aperitif. It should be consumed within 10 to 15 years.
