Villa Huesgen Feinherb Riesling 2012

This wine has the typical Mosel wine taste with its well-balanced acidity, sweetness and minerality. It comes from the well-known Enkircher Steffensberg vineyards. An elegant, full-bodied Riesling with clear and complex flavors and a light acidity. Red apple, hints of peaches and citrus fruit as well as fine minerality characterize its round palate with a lingering fruity aftertaste.

Wine Facts

Winemaker Notes
The grapes for Kabinett Riesling are grown in a special microclimate within the Mosel region. The vineyards of the Enkircher Steffensberg are on steep slopes, over 80% deep gray slate, at altitudes of between 330-656 ft. (100 to 200 m.) along the Mosel River. The vines, from original Riesling rootstock, have an average age of 30 to 35 years and are at angles and exposures on the various slopes that make a difference in the amount of sun the grapes receive. The end result is a great deal of ripeness in the grapes, which are hand-picked and then pre-selected for their ripeness. The grapes do not undergo crushing or pumping, but go directly into a soft air press. After pressing, the juice is transferred to stainless steel, where it sits for 12 hours before being moved into the final tank for fermentation.
