Pillar Box Red 2010

Overview

The 2010 Pillar Box Red has brooding, blackberry fruit and dried mint aromas intermingled with dark chocolate, licorice, hints of pepper and cedar on the nose. The palate exhibits flavors of fresh black and blueberry fruit, toasted dark spice and hints of spearmint. A well balanced, seamless wine with soft, persistent tannins.

Wine Facts

Winemaker Notes
The fruit is sourced from our Padthaway vineyards, grown in various soil types including red loam, black loam & deep sand over limestone. Each vineyard destined for the Pillar Box range of wines is harvested when the grapes are “flavor ripe” and fermented on skins for around five days. The free run and pressings fractions are separated and all parcels are kept separate throughout the vinification process until the final blend is determined just prior to bottling. The wines are matured for a period of 12 months, 30% of the volume is aged in oak using 90% French & 10% American Oak.
