Overview

Light golden straw in color, Frankland Estate’s Isolation Ridge Riesling is complex and highly perfumed with alluring citrus pith, zesty orange, lime and kumquat, backed up by spicy, mineral undertones. There is a real softness and generosity of fruit on the front and mid-palate, and rounded acidity, complimented by silky-textures. The wine is balanced by a fragile delicacy and lightness of touch that persists through the long refreshing finish.

Winemaker Notes
The Riesling harvest commenced on March 28 and ended on April 3, 2017. The vineyard is dry-farmed under certified organic principals which highlights the flavors that are achieved from the unique soils and climate in which the grapes are grown. The vineyard is planted on undulating northern and eastern facing slopes, with duplex soils of ironstone gravel over loam over a clay sub-soil. The vines are from two different clones and both a Vasse and Vertical Shoot trellis systems are used. Grapes are pressed immediately after picking, with the juice left to settle in tank over night before being racked and fermentation introduced. The winery’s aim is to minimize intervention in order to obtain the purest and finest expression of the pristine fruit. The juice was fermented in tanks and neutral oak at low temperatures over 8 weeks, helping to obtain the purest expression of the organically grown fruit. Wine is left on lees for 9 months prior to bottling.

Isolation Ridge Riesling is ideally served chilled and is a perfect accompaniment for a wide range of foods including seafood and lightly-spiced appetizers and first courses.
